Welcome:
ED AUER REMEMBERED
We have been saddened by the
passing of Deacon Ed Auer at the age of 89. His health had
deteriorated in the past year and he finally succumbed to the
effects of his age and failing body. He now rests in peace but is
fondly remembered by the many, many people who were touched by his
life. He was a role model to a large number of people who were
fortunate enough to have him teach them and coach them. He
demonstrated how one could live a good and holy life and be a
vibrant, positive example to children and young adults. Yet he
knew how to enjoy and celebrate the day-to-day simple and
dignified existence of a devoted son, teacher, coach, cleric,
mentor and friend.
Serving God and teaching children
were his life's work and he did them extraordinarily well. He was
able to add discipline and humor to his teaching methods and to
structure learning in terms that were understandable and pertinent
to Christian ideals. He performed his duties as a deacon of the
Catholic Church by assisting in the Mass and Sacraments, and
helping the priests minister to the faithful at Our Lady of
Sorrows. His widest impact was on those who came under his
tutelage at St. Francis de Sales and then St. John the Baptist
High Schools. Mr. Auer's value in forming the young minds of those
children is not measurable. This fund was begun as a tribute to
the man who provided so much to so many of us. It is only fitting
that his legacy would be helping children attain a quality,
value-centered education. The Ed Auer Endowment Fund has helped
many students with the financial assistance needed for them to
remain in Catholic schools. Mr. Auer's memory will live on in
continuing this objective for many more students in the future.
